Marriage License
Before a man and a woman can legally marry in the tri-state area, the couple must obtain a marriage license, the requirements for which differ from state to state. Rules and marriage laws may also vary slightly by county and are subject to change. Special rules apply if either party is under 18 years old.

Both parties together must apply for their marriage license in person. They can apply in any county courthouse and get married in any county. The couple must wait three days before they can marry and the license remains valid for 60 days.
Both parties must present their social security card along with proof of age, such as a driver's license, birth certificate or passport.
If either party has been divorced or widowed, some counties require that the party present a certified copy of the divorce decree or the death certificate.

Both parties, along with a witness, must appear in person at the bride's local township building to apply for their marriage license. The couple must wait 72 hours before they marry and the license remains valid for 30 days.
Both parties must provide proof of age, residence and divorce (if applicable).

Parties must appear in person at the county building to apply for their marriage license. Proper identification and proof of divorce (if applicable) are required. Delaware residents can get married 24 hours after they apply, while out-of-state residents must wait 96 hours. The license is valid for 30 days.
